I adopted a Siberian Husky, Ivan, one week ago from an area shelter. Yesterday he had his first visit with my usual vet, also sees my older dog, and I was told Ivan isn't completely neutered. They call it a 'crypt orchid' (sp), meaning he has one testicle still remaining. Has any one else been throuh this or know more about it than me? I have contacted the shelter, their policy is to spay/neuter all dogs put up for adption and they have agreed to do the procedure, but I am afraid of Ivan's shock of a) going back to the shelter for a day (he was there for 1 month), and b) he has to go through the surgery again. Having had him for only 1 week I don't want to damage the trust he is putting in me. Any suggestions and info would be great. Thanks in advance.

I would take him back to the shelter to have the procedure, because a crypt orchid dog can develop cancer in the undecended testicle.

Lucas, my malamute, had the same thing. We thought it was really funny, but when he got neutered they took that one out too. You should take your husky back to the shelter to get the procedure cause like it was already said, that undescended testicle can become cancerous just like a tumor.
