Hi all --

Can someone please help me? My 2 yo, Rusty, doesn't chew anything around the house (thank goodness). He doesn't like to play with toys, and the only hard treats he likes are bones that taste like cheese (wow, does he love cheese). So even though we've only had him for 5 weeks we figured he wasn't a chewer. Except when I put his leash on him (one of those nylon Walkabout Retractable Leashes) to take him on a walk or to the park...for some reason he's chewed through it! I figure he's excited to go on a walk, but now we need to buy a new leash. We really like this leash because it's retractable, but we can't replace his leash every few weeks. Does anyone know of a way to get him to cease and desist with this chewing?

Thanks so much for the help!

try the bitter apple spray. my chow/rottie loves to chew on leashes, when we are walking her, and if she can find them laying around the house. you can get the spray at most pet stores. just put it on the leash, some brans wear off after 24hrs, so you will need to keep reapplying it until the dogs understands that the leash tastes really bad! good luck!!

Thanks, Angel, for the quick reply! I just ran to the pet store a block away and got some of the spray (and a new leash). We'll see how he does on our outing to the park today. I hope it goes well...those leashes are expensive!
