Hey everyone...here is my question.
Did any of your babies act sick when they were teething?? We know for sure that Cleo is teething, because there are teeth missing, but she seems like she can't get comfy...she wont stay in one place for any amount of time(to sleep ect) even at night...she seems a little off balance when she walks and just doesn't have the energy that she normally does...is this normal when teething??
we are scheduled to have her spayed on friday, but if she still isn't feeling well we will have to cancel.
thanks

hey guys!
i feel like a terrible mother! tonight we decided that even if cleo was teething we should get her looked at because she was acting so out of it. on the way there she threw up in the car(which she almost never does) and out came about 3/4 of a greene bone!! we gave her one yesterday and thought that she went through it very fast...so we think that she wasn't eating and was in a lot of pain because of that! tonight we fed her some kairo syrup and nutra cal and a little human food and let her sleep...she seems to be doing much better...the weird thing is that the doctor wanted more blood work and possibly an MRI to be done!! we will see how she is tomorrow..i feel so bad that my neglegance could have been the cause of her being so sick!!! lets hope that it is the greene and not something worse(like a nervous system problem)
Poor Cleo!

When my yorkie - Dolly - was three years old, I noticed one day that her stomach felt very bloated and tight. I kept an eye on her, but it stayed the same - very bloated. I took her to the vet on that Monday - this occurred over the weekend (she was acting fine, just didn't seem right to me). Well, to make a long story short - Dolly was diagnosed with renal failure and the bloating was caused by fluid leaking into her blood stream. For the next two years, it was a battle to keep her alive and this past January she died. She was the sweetest dog I ever had the privilege of owning and I miss her terribly. The point of my reply is this: When you think something is not right with your dog - you are most likely correct. Always act on your suspicions and get her to the doctor. My doctor was very surprised that I would even notice the way her stomach felt - but I held my baby every day and I knew what she normally felt like! It's disturbing to have to be so cautious, but after you have lost a dog that you love, it makes you aware of changes in their bodies - which are always an indication of something going on internally! Thank goodness it was just the greenie. I would be very careful about having your dog spayed, until you are absolutely positive it is in perfect health!

Hi Mickelle,
So glad it was just a greenie and Cleo is okay! We had to do a similar thingjust before Gum Gum was due to get spayed. Had to postpone the surgery because she had an ear infection and wasn't 100%. I'm glad we did as well, cos the degree to which she suffered for 5 days after the surgery, I hate to think what it would have been like had she had an ear infection to deal with too! You're a good owner, not a bad one!

Michelle, some vets want to make a big bill for you. I would never go to that vet again and start asking in neighborhood parks or anyone you can find with a dog nearby for recommendations. An MRI and blood tests seem a little to extreme.

I have heard of people saying those greenies can be dangerous and that they can come apart in chunks and choke your dog. It sounds like your dog will be okay after throwing up the greenie. Keep us up dated!!!!

Bye, Grace
