Hi everybody, well, to start this new site I wanted to tell a nice experience we had yesterday. My 11 mo old beagle girl went on a play date with a 13 mo old beagle boy, the dog of a new friend we just met in the neighborhood, they were so cute and so happy, she had never had a same-breed friend before, she just hangs out with big guys, like husky and lab long-time friends... can you tell if dogs recognize that they are the same breed??? Nala is a very social little dog but with this beagle was an instant click!!! :D

I would think it possible. I have a male chi and the first time he met my sister's female chi they clicked. He does not try to "procriate" with any other female other than my sister's chi. but soon that will be gone for them both. We are doing one more litter and then she is getting fixed and in the next month he will be to.

It was probably nice for her to have someone her own size to play with.

Meetup.com arranges play dates with same breed dogs once a month. If you go there and enter your breed of dog or what mix you think your dog is, you will find where in your state there are play dates.

They are usually held in Petsmart's obedience ring, especially if they are small dogs like chis or doxies etc. They give you choices to pick from where the meet up may be held, like maybe in a park where they have an off-leash area.

There is too much to go into. Go and sign up, it's free. You will receive an e-mail announcing a possible meet up, and if there are enough responses, then vote on where it will take place, then you get a final confirmation letter.

If there aren't enough people in your area, you can join in another area that is having one.
