Hello folks, the day has FINALLY come where we're going to start obedience training for my two daschunds. The folks at PetSmart told me what kind of leash to bring, but I want advice as to what's the best kind of collar to put on these little guys while we work with them. I've only had regular nylon lightweight collars on them, basically to have something to hang their tags on, and to get them to and from the car/vet. Will I have better control of these guys with harnesses, regular collars, chain collars or those "gentle leaders" for their training? They're 15 months old, and VERY bouncy, and really pull against a leash. I've heard all kinds of horror stories about their backs and potential problems if you're too rough with them. What have you folks had success with?? Thanks!!

Nella-

Either a gentle leader, sensation harness or an easy walk harness would be excellent choices - I personally prefer the easy walk or sensation harness.

I have one of these for Rusty (LH dachshund) and I love it. No chafing under the arms, no discomfort, can't pull out of it, and excellent craftsmanship.
I would call the designer and ask her which size would be best for your little ones. Because of their unique shape; dachshunds can be hard to fit.
