Hi, I received an email that contained nothing in it from the doggie bag administrator that had U in the subject line. I opened it then deleted it immediately. Anyone know anything?

I got the email that you sent about the mistaken email, Thanks!

Okay, I sort of have to hi-jack this thread since it seems this issue has been taken care of. Im an AOL user, and I cannot start a thread, and I can no longer gain access to the user control panel. I dont think that I can use the internet explorer...any suggestions? Im a computer dummy, so if this is simple or has already been covered...thanks and sorry in advance! :p And I was also having some troubles with the smilies earlier. Looks okay now, but I would click on them, and nothing would show....

Thanks again...sorry to be a pain in the you know what!!

Hi Jaime - and other AOL users having this thread starting problem - as far as I can tell most of us with AOL are having the same problem. If you can go on through internet explorer, after you have signed on to aol, and get to DB through there you can post threads. I did complain to AOL, and here is the answer I got:

I understand that you are getting the error message "Website not responding" and "502 connection hang up" when you try to access a forum with the service of AOL.

There are several possible causes for this, so I have provided a number of solutions. After trying each solution, check to see if it resolved your issue. If it did not, please try the next solution listed. I recommend you save or print a copy of this e-mail for future reference.

A. Run an AOL Auto Fix
Let AOL help you automatically fix many common problems or errors with AOL Auto Fixes. Your AOL software comes bundled with advanced technology to make it easy to repair the most common errors that prevent you from getting the most out of your AOL membership. Just start an Auto Fix to have AOL automatically go through steps to repair your software and optimize your AOL experience.

Note: In order to access the AOL Offline Help content you must have the AOL software running, but not be signed on to AOL.

1. On the AOL Toolbar, click HELP, then click AOL HELP.
2. Click the INDEX tab. This tab has a Gold Key icon.
3. In the box at the top, type FIX, then press the ENTER key. Fixes for common AOL error conditions will appear.
4. On the right side, click I GET DISCONNECTED FROM THE AOL SERVICE, then follow the onscreen instructions.

"The Auto Fix will:
- Auto-detect the connection device.
- Delete the temporary Internet files.
- Rebuild the AOL adapter.

B. CLEAR THE WEB BROWSER CACHE AND UNINSTALL THE AOL® ADAPTER
A damaged Web browser cache and/or a damaged AOL Adapter may cause this issue. Windows® networking requires that a network adapter exist for any application that must access the Internet. The AOL software uses the AOL Adapter to access the Internet.

NOTE: Please make sure that the AOL software is closed before you follow the steps.

1. On the Windows® taskbar next to the clock, right-click the AOL icon, then click SYSTEM INFORMATION.

NOTE: If the AOL icon is not displayed, click the START button, select PROGRAMS or ALL PROGRAMS, select AMERICA ONLINE, then click AOL SYSTEM INFORMATION.

2. Click the UTILITIES tab.
3. Click the CLEAR BROWSER CACHE button until the CURRENT CACHE SIZE reads 0 KB, then click the UNINSTALL AOL ADAPTER or REBUILD AOL ADAPTER button.
4. Click the OK button.
5. Click the CLOSE button.
6. Restart the computer and launch the AOL software again. The AOL Adapter will be rebuilt automatically.

C. Delete all connection locations and redetect the modem
Completely deleting the Sign On locations and the connectivity files not only removes bad access numbers, but also location dialing options and incorrect modem or TCP/IP settings. AOL will automatically search for and select the right connection device and, if you are using a dial-up modem, guide you through selecting the proper phone number and dialing options. This process is a lot faster than checking to make sure everything is setup correctly.

1. Launch AOL as you normally would but do not sign on, then click SETUP.
2. Click EXPERT SETUP.
3. Select a location, then click DELETE.
4. Click YES. Continue deleting locations until the location list is blank.
5. Click the DEVICES tab.
6. Select a device, then click DELETE.
7. Click YES twice. Continue deleting devices until the device list is blank.
8. On the AOL menu bar, click FILE, then click EXIT.
9. Launch America Online.
10. Click NEXT.
11. Select your connection device, then click NEXT. If selecting TCP/IP, skip the remaining steps and click NEXT.
12. Type in your Area Code, then click NEXT.
13. Select several local access numbers, then click NEXT. If you are prompted to set your dialing options, first check the box next to any that apply, then click NEXT.
14. Select your dialing options, check the box next to 'Automatically reconnect me and ignore interruptions when using this location,' then click NEXT.

Note: What constitutes a local call can vary widely by calling plan and phone company. For your protection, please check with your local phone company to ensure the AOL Access phone number you selected is a local call for your calling plan.

Hopefully I have adequately provide you solutions about your concern.

If you need additional assistance, you can chat online with a technical support specialist. Please go to AOL Keyword: Live Help. My colleagues there are available 24 hours a day to assist you in a secure, one-on-one session."

I actually never have any luck with auto fix, and have to honestly say I have not tried any of the other stuff-between work and Linus :-) I am keeping busy! So I just pop on through IE and start threads that way. Hope this helps.

Alberta & Linus
