Just wanted to introduce myself and tell everyone a little about myself and my baby.
We live in Michigan, which by the way just east of where I live they got a foot of snow last weekend! I am ready for spring anytime.
My baby is a 3 year old mini-schnauzer named Mickey, he has been a real experience as he is my first ever doggie; I never realized how much work and time they take, but it is very much worth it. My kids are all grown and I live alone, so he is my best friend and companion, Sometimes he thinks I should be his only friend and companion as he is very jealous and possessive, but it is usually not a problem.
I have a cute story that just happened. He had been pretty sick for about a week, and finally ended up having to stay over two nights at the vet's with an IV, poor baby I felt so bad leaving him there, he has never stayed away overnight anywhere, never been anywhere without me other than the groomers! He went in on Thursday afternoon and came home on Saturday morning. He was so happy to get home, he ran around and around every room, up on the couch, up on my bed around and around, took almost all of his toys out of his toybox and threw them up in the air, it was just hilarious!
Needless to stay he stayed right next to me for the rest of the day and has been a lot more cuddly since than he ever was. For some reason he is not a cuddly puppy and hates to be picked up.
Anyway that's a little bit about me and my baby.
I am very much enjoying this website and was glad to find it after the loss of Doggie Door.

Hey Peggy, I do remember you from doggiedoor.... Welcome to this new site? all the old regulars of doggiedoor are around here!!!!! its so great that Colleen could do this!!! Well, I have a mini-schnauzer too, Molly, 7 yrs old and she can be jealous and possesive, she thinks I'm "hers" and sometimes she likes to borrow me to my husband or my other dog, Nala, a 1 yr old beagle.

Well, see ya' around!!!! And great you could make it here!!!! :p

Please forgive my ignorance, but I am fairly new to the dog world and see "my dog is a GSD" all time and I'm not sure what it means. Can someone please tell me.
Thanks

Hi Peggy!

Can't help you with the GSD term, but wanted to wish you a warm welcome! Colleen, Doggie Bag, and the wonderful folks who commune at this site have helped keep me somewhat sane and calm the past month since we added a second puppy to the family. Same breed (Shih Tzu) and six months apart. They are as different as night and day in nearly every respect, but get along so great. They've brought alot of joy because like you, my husband's son is grown and we have no kids of our own. I know how rough it must have been on you to keep your Mickey at the vet's for two nights and love the story of his homecoming! Thanks for sharing and welcome, welcome, welcome!

GSD is German shepard dog. My spelling could be off though.

Welcome!!! Sorry I don't remember you from doggie door, but can't wait to see pics!! Maybe that will jog my memory.

Welcome Peggy!
This is a great site where lots of people who really care about dogs will help you out whenever they can!

I know Ashley has already helped you out with the GSD thing but we're doing breeds of dog in the teaching centre where I work (my idea of course!) and thought I might add that:

German Shepherd Dog
Alternative names: German Shepherd, GSD, and Alsatian

Welcome. I had a mini-schnauzer growing up. Except for shih tzus, they are my favorites. Not only are they cute, but they are smart too. Not that shih tzus aren't smart. Oh heck, mine aren't anyhow...
