Where do people's dogs sleep at night? With you, in a crate, doggy bed, in another room, under the bed? ;)
Just curious... Tanna sleeps in her crate in our room. She crate-trained herself and now loves it. I've been thinking about weaning her into a dog bed and putting the crate in the basement, but she loves it so much, I can't bear to. She'll cuddle on request on the bed at night for ten minutes or so, then hop down and climb into her bed.

Both of my dogs like to sleep on my bed with me. They have their dog beds next to my bed but they perfer my big comfy bed. Go figure ;)
I don't have a problem with it as long as they get off when I say and only come on when I give them the command. Other the the doggy butts in my face everyone's happy :)

One dog, a shepherd mix, prefers to be in bed with me and my husband. If I had the dogbed in the bedroom, then she'd sleep in that bed most of the time...at least start in her bed then eventually move to our bed later on in the night. The other one, my husky, prefers the floor. I think because it's cooler there and she's gets hot easily with her thick fur. Occasionally we'll end up with two medium sized dogs sprawlled out in the bed with us. Luckily we have a king size bed which is barely enough room for all of us.

i'm jealous of all who get to sleep in their bed with their furbabies. my husband would not allow it, not even when it was only chloe. now with two i can never dream of it. i did it once with chloe because she didn't seem well and boy oh boy was that a sleepless night. it was like having a toddler in the bed. she was sniffling ALL night and trying to find a comfort spot and then my husband is huge so i was worried all night trying to make sure he didn't roll over her (which almost happened at one point). LOLOLOL
it must be nice to have those furry bodies keep your feet warm :(

Sammy sleeps in his crate next to my side of the bed. My last 2 Scotties slept with us, but we have a new bed and mattress set that are so high off the floor I'm afraid he'd hurt himself if he jumped down. This seems to be working fine.

My Beagle sleeps w/ us and our Lab sleeps on the floor next to the bed...he gets to hot on the bed. Thank goodness. It's hard enough w/ one dog, he is such a bed hog:)

My dogs sleep on a dog bed in the hallway just outside my room. They are separated from my room by a baby gate. That's because Miss Kitty (a cat, obviously) is afraid of the dogs, and has my room and the adjoining bathroom as her personal refuge. I also gate the dogs from the stairs, so they have access only to the hallway, one bathroom (where their water is kept) and the bedroom where their crates are kept (they are crated during the day while I'm at work).
Zoe (my rottie and 1st dog) was crated at night for the first 8 months, but the last couple I've let her sleep in the hallway and she's been perfectly behaved.

We try to get Tanna to sleep on the bed with us, but if I stop petting or cuddling her, she'll nudge me with her nose or paw, and then if no love is forthcoming, she hops down indignantly. It's hilarious! So very fickle.
I keep looking at this beast of a crate, which is too big for her anyways, and thinking wouldn't it be nice to get it out of my bedroom, but she looks so cute and happy with her paws hanging out the front door! Sigh.

Molly, she will cuddle next to me while I'm watching tv or reading just before going to bed (she's a momma's girl), then when she sees I'm getting ready to hop into bed she will go to her bed that's next to mine and then I'll kiss her goodnight and she'll sleep there through the night. In winter she sleeps between our feet in our bed (she's tiny so hubby doesn't mind).
Nala, if she feels like hanging out with me she will cuddle in my bed and stay there until my husband (who works late every night and usually goes to bed around 2 or 3 am) gets to bed and sends her to her bed (next to mine and Molly's). If she feels like hanging out with my husband she will go downstairs with him to his office and cuddle in his feet, when he goes to bed she will go directly to hers and sleep through the night there. In the summer when its hot she will get her blanket out of her bed and put in on the floor and sleep there.
If my husband is out of town, both dogs get lucky and are allowed to sleep with me...
Sometimes they switch beds, but Nala doesn't like that too much, Molly's bed is small and her head, legs and tail just hang out of bed... :)
Mine are spoiled little dogs!!!!! they've never slept outside in their doggie house!!!!

Bogart sleeps on our bed. He likes to sprawl out too, so that leaves very little room for me and my boyfriend. What a stinker! ;)

In the Winter Baxter is always under the covers in our bed. He can be such a cuddler.. This is his first spring and on the hot days, we have noticed he starts off under our bed, then 1/2 way through the night, he will jump up with us. I suspect in the summer, he will be under the bed most nights, until we crank up the air conditioner!!

Cocoa sleeps in bed with us too. Sometimes with his head on our pillows too :) You wouldn't think such a small dog would take up so much room, but he does! :)

all three of the dogs start out on the dog beds on the ground, its usually Lucky on his own bed, and Teddy and Ginger cuddled on the other bed. however, as soon as we are asleep, Ginger crawls up and sleeps under the covers between my husband and I (I think she gets cold, lol). She is small, so it works out well and the other dogs are perfectly content with sleeping on their comfy beds.

Hi everyone!
Maggie sleeps in her kennel in the spare room with the door closed. I actually felt bad about that so one nite I tried to leave her kennel door open and close the bedroom door but she would have no part of that. She wants both doors closed! About once a week I put her in bed with us but she is so tired the next day I almost feel sorry for her. I dont think she gets too much rest in there!

Lola sleeps with me. She usually curls up beside me and sometimes early in the mornign will crawl under my duvet. She is a big bed hog though!! She wants to sleep right beside me so when I move over she moves with me and I usuall end up squished against the wall.

Kobe always starts out on our bed, but the minute someone has the audacity to move and invade her space, she jumps down and sleeps in her bed next to me. If my husband or I am gone and there is only one of us in the bed, then she will sleep on the bed all night( I guess both of there take up too much room for her!) Of course baby shiba still sleeps in her crate, but when my husband gets up and wakes her up around 6:00 and I want to go back to sleep, kobe , her and I will lay back down in my sewing room on "their" couch and sleep a couple more hours. Yah! My sewing room is much more puppy proofed than our bedroom!

Peanut and Waldo sleep wherever the heck they want to sleep. They have beds in the living room, but they often sleep in bed with us. But they both tend to switch sleeping places frequently throughout the night... from their bed to our bed, from the foot of the bed to the head of the bed, from the kitchen to by the front door... they just go where they feel like it. Luckily, as big of a dog as Peanut is (+140 lbs), I never feel her moving around. She's so considerate and dainty! But little Waldo will step right on top of me to get to the next place.

My dogs can basically sleep wherever they want in our bedroom. All three are big dogs - so only one dog allowed on the bed at bedtime , and it's usually Maggie, our youngest and the biggest dog that is sleeping with us. We do have a small couch in the corner of the bedroom that is supposed to be for the dogs to sleep on. Maggie has a dog bed next to the couch, but latey our 13 year old dog, Jake has declared it his. When Maggie's not on the bed with us, she is on the couch now. Sadie, our middle dog, sleeps on the couch with Maggie sometimes, or on the floor where my husband can barely get out of bed without tripping on her. If the dogs have scuffles over sleeping on our bed, or show signs of being protective of it - they immediately lose that privilege.
No matter where the dogs sleep throughout the night, as soon as my husband and I show signs of waking up - we wind up with Sadie and Maggie in bed with us.

Well, I have a big queen size bed and I'm the only human in it, so Whiskey sleeps up there with his crate open and a doggie pillow(or bed if you will) on the bed. He sometimes sleeps on the pillow or in the crate, but mostly just snuggles up with me. That was one of the biggest things I was looking forward to when he bacame potty trained. Well, that and him not pottying on the floor, lol. Well, just wanted to share,

Maggie sleeps in her bed in our room. She has somehow "appropriated" two oversized pillows (Jets and Giants--she's openminded :0) from my sons, which are in front of her bed, so she usually curls up in the bed and then rests her front paws and head on the pillows. We do allow her on the bed when we're watching TV or reading, but not for sleeping. We just have a full-sized bed, and even though she is small, I think we would be a bit crowded!

I didn't know if I wanted Capri in bed with me, never had a dog before. Then I saw chihuahuas like to burrow and sleep in bed with their owners, but I was also concerned if I would roll onto her. Turns out I really don't move much when I sleep, and she sleep under the covers with all four feet touching me.
Now I could never sleep without Capri pressed up against me.

Mickey sleeps "all over the bed "with us. From top to bottom, he'll travel through the night. If I have to get up with him in the middle of the night and we come back to bed, he will lay on my pillow until I lay my head down, then he will place his head over mine. He does this everytime without fail. He'll stay there for a little while then move down to the end of the bed until morning. If we stir at all, he will come up to the top of the bed and want to cuddle.

Marne, that is just so cute that your dog lays his head down over your head. My dog is so bonded with me, I'm surprised since she is a small chi that she does not just sleep on my head, but she wants to be under covers.

Gum Gum has slept in her dog bed inside her crate in her x-pen in the spare room since the first night she arrived. The x-pen gate is closed and so is the door to the room but the crate is open so she can go potty.
We've tried having her on our beds at night but she won't sleep unless it's in her own room! We had her for at least a month before she'd even sleep on the sofa or floor! We still have to put her in her room for naps though, otherwise she just doesn't sleep and gets cranky, just like a baby!
Ruby sleeps on a pillow next to the bed and Piper sleeps in a crate with the door closed (mostly because she can't seem to help herself from getting into bed with us).
They are allowed to be on the bed until we say "Bedtime" and then Ruby (sometimes with a little prompting :D ) will jump down to her pillow. Piper just looks puzzled like, "What? I know it is bedtime. I was sleeping very nicely on the bed ... so what's the problem?" So she needs a bit of 'assistance' with getting down and going into her crate.
Anytime I take a nap by myself the doggies are allowed to sleep in bed with me ... it's kinda like a treat for them. Usually Ruby ends up sleeping between my legs (which is a killer on the back, but she usually settles in there after I'm asleep and am too groggy to tell her to move) and Piper curls up next to me.

THis is where Boomer sleeps mostly. I suppose that the tile and the cold tank feel good, but one of these days he is going to be too big to fit back there...hes getting close now! Just hope he doesnt get stuck back there. He has pretty much claimed the bathroom in our room as his "den".
He was snoozing on his back when I found him, but couldnt get the camera in time!!

When I'm in Florida Magic sleeps in my room on her own twin sized bed with her own pillow and blanket. When I'm in Michigan we share a queen sized bed.

My Mickey sleeps with me, every night as soon as I start turning off lights and the TV goes off he runs right in and jumps up there, he doesn't like to be under the covers though.
I had a behaviorist tell me that you should never let a dog sleep with you because he will think he is on the same level as you and will never mind you. He does have some behavior issues, but we are doing the NILIF and is getting much better, and still sleeps with me.

During the day Nestle sleeps on a mat in my office while I work on the 'puter. In the evening she climbs up on the top of the couch and sleeps there. At night she'll cuddle for a while on top of the bed but once my wife and I are both in bed she'll hop off and snuggle in her kennel. Nestle hates being on top of the bed and having feet and legs touch her from underneeth: GROUL! Don't ever try to wake a sleeping dog in it's kennel because it's snoring so loud you can't sleep. BARK BARK GROUL-BITE. Ahhh. And I thought I was nasty in the morning. Oh and I forgot: while doing laundry, Nestle will sleep on the pile of dirty laundry on the floor. The stinkier the better!!

Lol, about the laundry, Whiskey loves clothes right out of the dryer. Sometimes, if he's done really well with training or I'm just in a good mood, I'll put clean towels in there for a few minutes and he looks so happy when he climbs in, gotta get a pic. Okay, just wanted to share, Lauren and Whiskey.
