This is a hard story to read. Aweful that these peopel actually think they treated these animals right. Having too many dogs in itself is cruel especially if you don't have the room for them. So beware. I'm going to post this article for you to read but don't read it if you feel you can't take it. Nothing is as bad as the news I have heard about how the IAMS food company treated their test animals, but this is pretty bad!

Glad you posted it, as horrible as it is. What was really shocking was the fact that these people can get the poor animals back if they win.

How can someone actually agree to let these people have these poor animals back??? That's ridiculous!!:banghea d: It makes me sick to think about all those animals who have lived their lives in those tiny cages, with no human contact (or minimal) and their owners have no remorse whatsoever. How can two people "love" (as she said) hundred of dogs ( don't know how many exactly their were), I wouldn't even know half of their names, nevermind being able to give them all the love and attention they deserve!!

I haven't read it yet, but I'm thinking maybe I shouldn't judging from the reactions of the others. :( :(

I think I may have to later just out of curiosity though because I can't imagine how a couple of people could have a hundred dogs or however many there were!

This is why I'm so against mill puppies. A neighbor of this person claimed they believed she also was breeding dogs for a mill. Not sure how true that is but from my understanding. the treatment this owner gave her dogs is not much unlike someone tends to treat mill puppies and the preeding parents. Eitherway, what she did was just unthinkable. I just hope whoever judges this case comes to their senses and doesn't allow this person to own a pet any time in her future. No animal should have to live like that.

that was so sad and sick. it breaks my heart to imagine what those poor animals have gone through. those people need to go to jail!!!!! those animals need to be given up to people who will care for them and show them that humans can really love and care for them.

Well, this is sad, horrible, disturbing and a little crazy... I mean, what in the world were they thinking having 300 dogs in their home!!!! Not even shelters can handle that amount!!!! I think somewhere in the way of their lives they kind of lost it, I mean, its not only that they did this horrible thing, I mean, they really have a mental issue, a sane person, even a cruel one, would know when its enough. And 300 were only the dogs, who knows what else was there... the scary thing is that the poor doggies can go back to them, and in the meanwhile they can't get the love and care of a family of their own... probation is not enough, I've seen cases in aspca of new york were they are charged with animal cruelty and they get jail time and high fines and they can take the animals away... and for stuff that is not as bad as the situation of those dogs. I hope eveything turns out the best for the dogs... as for those people... I hope they get the punishment they deserve...
Anne, if you can keep us informed about this, it would be great!!!!

How horrible. Those people ought to be forced to live in the same conditions they made those animals live in. Failing that they should be in jail.

I hope these dogs are never returned to them and I hope each one finds a real home where they can be loved, petted and pampered.

At one time they had 500 dogs!!!! :o And the women says she loves all of them, 9 live inside with them and 5 sleep in their bed. Ok, great, so what about the other 486 dogs?

Here in Vermont, animal "hoarding" is considered an actual mental illness. Until the animals are removed (when neglect is shown), law requires each animal to have so much living space, so much air ventilation, food, water, etc. They are checked on repeatedly while the case is pending. At least this ensures they are getting the basics until they can be helped further.
But those people need help, too! Yes, we all want what is best for the animals. But animal hoarding happens everywhere, too often, and these people really do think they love and care for all of their needy animals.
I wish more states had opportunities for civil lawsuits. It would help more animals get the attention they need in order to get help.
