I'm a proud rottie owner (11 mo. old female named Zoe), and just added a 4.5 mo. old male rescue mix, Oliver, to our home. Oliver's mother was an American Eskimo, but his father is unknown. Please help me figure out what he is. Suggestions have been husky (although I think this is the Am. Esk. in him), Jack Russell Terrier, and Beagle. He has one ear that usually flops over, the other usually stands up. He has one brown eye and one that's 1/2 brown and 1/2 blue. He has a soft, relatively short coat. What do you think?

Oh, he's so cute!!! I think maybe beagle would be a good guess. Just because of the coloring over the ears. I can definately see the Am. eskimo?

See, I would say terrier. He has that terrier build. Whatever he is, he is SO cute. I cannot take it, that 2nd picture kills me. How big is he?

The 2nd picture is the one they had on petfinder ... you can see why I had to adopt him!!! He's just 10 or 11 pounds (he wouldn't sit still on the vet's scale, and I wasn't about to have the waiting room see MY weight while I held him to get a more acurate reading). The rescue estimated that he'd get to approx. 30-40 pounds.

I'm gonna have to say terrier.
That second picture was pure terrier!

mmmm... he's got the tail of the beagle, the coloring and size of the beagle, the ears of a terrier, and the rest of an eskimo... how about his personality, hounds and terriers have distinctive qualities... does he sniff his way around? is he loud (a lot of terriers are)?
that's my guess... :bunny:

He has a high-pitched loud little bark, but he doesn't use it too often (in fact when he has to go out, he just quietly sits at the door and waits without a peep). I haven't noticed much sniffing, but he is QUITE the digger!!!! I won't need a post-hole digger for my fence - Ollie will take care of that in one afternoon all by his lonesome. I'm not too familiar with either breed, so I'll have to check their traits and watch for them. Maybe he's a little of each.

That 2nd picture was the cute-est thing I have ever seen. My goodness. I would have run out to get him too.
He sounds like a great dog, congratulations.

I do think he has more than 1 breed on him, but I can tell you, beagles are diggers, there's not a beagle I've met that wasn't... and some terriers have high-pitched voices, like mini-schnauzers... you yeah, I think your pooch has good variety on him... but well, no matter what breed mix he is, he is definitely CUTE!!!! :bunny:

The bushy tail could be because he has Am. Eskimo in him. We have one in the shelter I volunteer at and he is bushy and white with small brown spots. I personally think he has Jack Russell in him as well. The first picture shows the terrier build, as someone else stated earlier. He doesn't have to be Beagle, as Jack Russells are tri-colored as well, as someone stated he was a Beagle because of his coloring.

I just have to say...the second pic is to DIE for! You have a real catch there!

Looks a little like my America Eskimo Mix, except she has black instead of brown! She is a Am. Eskimo (dad) and Shiba Inu( mom). But the different colored eyes and short fur say husky to me!

Kristi, she's adorable!!! I think Oliver's probably a multi-breed mix. I'm thinking Am. Eskimo (we know this one), husky, jack russell terrier and beagle.

The important thing is that he's a very sweet dog and is fitting into my household nicely. I was so proud of both my dogs last night - I had 3 friends over, 1 of whom brought their shitzu (sp?). The shitzu was all over the place, but my two behaved perfectly, particularly when they were baby-gated into an adjoining room while we played a board game.
