Has anyone out there had any experience with hyperthyroidism. I noticed that my dog (3 yr. old mini-schnauzer) has a what feels like a lump in his throat kind of right at the end of his jaw bone on the left side, after doing some online researche I'm thinking this might be his thyroid that I am feeling, I'm not sure if you should be able to feel it or not. He has been showing some of the signs that the web site said to look for i.e., seemingly a little depressed (although I'm not quite sure what they are supposed to act like when they are depressed), frequent diarhea, aggression problems, and seems to get tired easily when we go for a walk, wants to stop and lay down all the time.
He has had a CBC blood test that came back okay, should I ask the vet for something else, or look for something.
Needless to say he is my first dog and I am constantly worried about things, since I'm not sure what to look for.
Any one with experience?

Hi Peggy~ Lewie (my GSD) has hypothyroidism. If your dog has symptoms then I would encourage you to get him tested. Have your vet draw a blood sample & send it to Dr. Dodds at Hemopet. Here's a link on how to send the sample to Dr. Dodds http://www.itsfortheanimals .com/HEMOPET.HTM
Dr. Dodds is the best- don't let your vet talk you into sending it somewhere else :D I'm not an expert on hypothyroidism, but I'd be happy to share my experience with Lewie's hypothyroidism if you'd like

My cocker has hypothyroidism and will be on meds for the rest of her life. Vet did blood test and it showed that her thyroid was barely functioning. Before I brought her to the vet she developed ringworm and conjunctivitis. I had not idea that she had ringworm cuz the last vet I brought her to about her skin condition said it was normal for cockers to have that kind of flaky greasy skin. She had nothing but scabs for a tail, no fur on it and the rest of her body was the same. Plus she gave off an order that would kill any fleas that would have been living on her. She was a mess. Almost died on us. Poor baby. She still gets that yucky gooey stuff in her eyes all the time now and she still gives off a strange stinky smell.
But I would suggest taking your dog to the vet to get a blood test done. The vet can determine whether its a thyroid problem or not. Good luck to you and I hope everything is ok.
