I wanted to share this with everybody. Exactly one year ago I received the most disturbing call, it was my sister yelling and crying, she found our beautiful mini schnauzer dead in the backyard, he was there, stiff, breathless, with blood coming from his mouth, it was a surprise since just the day before we were playing with him and having fun... I immediately ran to her house and just sit there with her, crying... our dad came for lunch and picked the little guy with a blanket, we put him in a box and we took him to the vet, they did an autopsy and then cremated him... a couple of days after that the pain became anger when we found out he had been poisoned, and since there was nothing in our backyard that could cause this we figured out somebody did it on purpose... we were angry, sad, trying to find answers, but couldn't... the only thing that gave us strenght was knowing all the joy and happiness that our little Kraft gave us during his life was there, in our hearts, to help us overcome his terrible loss... Now his ashes rest in the lake, his favorite spot... he was 10, he was wonderful!!!!

I'm sorry that had to happen. I know the only thing that gave me comfort when we had to put Bugsy down was that we gave him a wonderful life. Some people just need to look at dogs as living, breathing things that have people (or other animals) that love them. I wish that you could track down whoever did that and give them a piece of your mind!!!! Once again I am so sorry.

I'm so sory for your loss.....

I know how bad you feel, when I was about 12 I had a cat that followed me home  , (as it turned out his family had moved and left him behind)
Well we had my silvester for a couple of years when one day we found him lying in the ditch curled up like he was sleeping....only when I went to pet him he had blood from hie ears and mouth..

Someone had poisoned him, I always suspected it was our neighbours but never had the proof....I was heart broken...

so I share in your outrage at what kind of people live in this world..

What terrible stories. I can't understand why in the world anyone would want to do that. I am very sorry the two of you had to lose your dog in such a way. :(

I'm so sorry to hear such a sad story. I can't believe how heartless people can be, it breaks my heart.

It has been reported here in Pittsburgh (and other parts of the country) that some sick individuals are lacing hot-dogs, dog treats and various other kinds of food with poison. They leave them on the sidewalk or on the edge of someones grass line so the dog will scoop it up as he and the owner (or dog walker) stroll by. Unfortunetly, this is not an urban legand. There have been several counts of this in various areas of the city and surrounding neighborhoods. Please watch when you are walking your dog and this is a GREAT time to have a dog that knows "leave it".

I really think that people must be mentally sick to do things like this. It just makes me so mad. To pick on defenseless animals.

Andre - So sorry to hear of this. The first anniversary of your pup's death is very hard. Each anniversary will be difficult, but hopefully they will become days for you to remember all of the good times you had with him.

Thanks everybody, yes, there are some terrible ugly people out there... it sounds so surreal, but there is people that are capable of such cruel things...

We actually did our own little "investigation" (too much C.S.I.), but got nowhere, we talked to our neighbors but all of them have dogs, so they were as outraged as us, nobody saw anything weird going on those days, and nobody had nothing against us or Kraft, in fact, everybody on the block loved him because he was so playful and social...

Well... this is some "Cold Case"... (too much tv...)

I'm so sorry for your loss!! I don't know what I would do if someone poisoned Lola. It's so sad that there are people in this world who would take things out on innocent animals and never look back!!

I understand your anger and sadness. And i am sorry for your loss.

I use to live in the country and I know that a lot of people say i should have fenced them in but our dogs had 45 acres to roam on and helped work cows and stuff. Well one year about 8-9 years ago, my dobbie went roaming in the wooded area next to our farm and he was gone for two weeks, he chewed his paw off where he had gotten caught in a trap. he was 9 years old, he was so bad off that we had to put him down, it broke my heart.

people are heartless and sick that do that to animals just cause they don't care for animals.....
