First Male Dog

If you can't tell by my other posts, Baxter is my first male dog. He was neutered at 8 weeks old. Lately, when I get home, he will run over to me, plop on the ground and roll over so I can rub his belly. I have noticed that his penis is very hard. Is this an erection? Is this normal? Should I be doing anything differently?

It's normal excitement. Some males get more excited than others. When Finn is excited it will protrude out of the outside part. I don't know the technical terms. ;)

With Baxter, it is not the "pink lipstick" as a friend of mine refers to it, it is the actual penis on the underside of his belly that gets hard (the skin). I have seen his "pink lipstick" one time, but it doesn't come out of the tube when I am rubbing his belly (or at least it hasn't yet)
