Do you guys use a sunscreen on your dogs? I was going through a Drs. Fosters and Smith catalog awhile back and I read something about protecting our dog's skin from the sun. I wish I was paying more attention to it-I just sort of skimmed through it, but the more I think about it, the more I think it's a good idea. I looked on their website, under skin and coat care, but I didn't find any products for this. Can someone give me any information about sunscreen for dogs? Thanks in advance for your help.

Hee,
I never heard of such a thing...I would assume that if a dog spends a lot of time in the sun, then it would make sense. I was wondering about "sunglasses" for my pups, I have seen a few in several dog catalogs. I'm waiting to hear what other members have to say about the "sunscreen".

I got a pair of these for Bogart-mainly because I thought they would protect his eyes from flying rocks, bugs, and stuff when he sticks his head out the car window, but he hated the feel so of course he never wears them. It's too bad though because I thought he looked really cute in them.

I know dogs can get sunburned. I knew a dog that did get sunburned. It would only be natural unless a dog has a special defense against it, which they don't appear to.
On a side note: When I go for a drive, I have Capri's harness on, she is a 3-1/2 pound chi, so I take a white napkin and tuck it into the back of her harness like she is wearing a cape and it definitely helps keep the sun off her black back which immediately sucks in the heat. I call her my little burrito, all wrapped up or the capped crusader:)

You might also want to check out Stazko Conditioning Spray, http://www.stazko.com (www.stazko.com) I use the shampoo too. The whole line smells really good and the conditioning spray contains a sunscreen. BTW, Hee, Bogart is just way too cool for those shades. You're right--he does look terrific!

Hey, here's a link for those sunglasses! I was looking at the site and I noticed they also sell sunblock. You could probably find the sunglasses cheaper on Ebay. I got mine at a dog boutique and they were cheaper than the website price.
