hey guys! hope this question is in the right place...so here's my next adventure with my little cleo...
when we first got her we tried crating her all night and she would howl litereally all night(no stops) we persisted for about 2 sleepless weeks and caved and decided that it was ok for her to sleep with us...which has turned out very good because we know when she needs to go potty in the middle of the night...anyway so that has worked for about 6 weeks and then suddenly three nights ago she starting not wanting to sleep with us...she would make a fuss when we would try to calm her and cuddle(she loves cuddling) she just wanted to be on the floor(which of course would be fine with me if she were potty trained) the first night i thought she may have napped too much the day before so we had a really active day the next day with the same result the next night...i feel like this is a major step backwards in potty training because she went from never having an accident during the night to having 3-4...so i'm confused as to why she would just all of a sudden stop sleeping with us?? she is what i would consider a clingy dog(mammas girl) any suggestions??
thanks guys! i thought sleepless nights were a thing of the past(suprise!)

Hi Mickelle~

Has it gotten warmer where you live? That could be part of the reason for her desire to be on the floor.
You can try tethering her to your bed (Wrap her leash around the bottom of the bed post & attach) or somewhere in the bedroom. That way she won't be able to wander & she hopefully won't potty in her little sleeping area.[/

UPDATE.......it may have been that it got warmer, but then it got cold again and the problem still persisted...until i finally gave in and gave her some water...which i know is against potty training, but she hasn't had a single problem since...if she if frantically running around our room we know just to give her some water and then she sleeps like a baby the rest of the night....our Cleo is a weird case!
thanks for the suggestion...it gave me the idea to give her water...
problem solved!(i hope)

doesn't sound wierd, sounds thirsty! Good for you for figuring out a solution.
Take care!

My baby started doing the same thing, but he just wanted a little snack lol. He is like me, he likes to sleep on a full stomach lol. I know it is bad for me, but is it bad for dogs? He always leaves a couple of bites in his food bowl from dinner and then right when I start shutting off all the lights, he'll run and eat those last bites. Then we go to bed and he sleeps fine. It took me forever to figure out why some nights he woud go to sleep fine and why on others he would constantly jump off the bed all night long. Well, if he forgets and eats that last bite at dinner, I have to put a little kibble in his bowl so he can sleep. Ok, just wanted to share my quirky dogs behavior,

Our doggies are both night eaters and Ruby is a serious night drinker. Actually, when Ruby was a puppy she would stare longingly at us while we were brushing our teeth. We decided to cave and gave her water from a Dixie cup ... which made her a very happy little pup.

Eventually, we ended up teaching her to climb into the bathtub to drink from the cup (because she got water everywhere) and now she drinks directly from the faucet in the bathtub :)

It takes all kinds!
