Makes that time I jumped into a cold, raging river after a helpless dog seem like nothing!

This topic might get some interesting replies:)
Well, personally jumping into a cold, raging river is more heroic than digging into your endless pockets to find a cure. I think it is great that they were able to do that though, bodes well for the whole cancer community but obviously, right now there are not many people out there who can come up with that kind of cash.

Yeah, no way i could afford something like that, ever. I love my dogs though.
I agree, jumping into the freezing water was much better, at least more brave (kinda stupid though...but brave)

Regardless of peoples' views on stem cells there are stem cells available for use/research out there for humans as well. If someone is willing to pay "out the wazoo" for their pets to have cutting-edge procedures done, it can only help further scientific progress for humans as well.
I also have to ask, though - who are these people with that kind of disposable income, anyway? Not that it's not worth helping your pet, but c'mon! I work with kids with special needs and I have to be honest, I love my doggie to pieces, but if I had that kind of money I'd probably donate it to childrens' research or send it overseas to help with kids over there that don't even have basic healthcare.
Oh well, I sound like I'm contradicting myself. Boy, I didn't think I had such strong opinions about how people spend their own money!
