Hi, my 2 year old akita/shap mix has been acting pretty weird lately. I don't know if it's the change in the weather, or what. Anyway, we adopted Sheba from the SPCA and they assured us that she was spayed (we even have documentation telling us so) BUT she's VERY interested in a neighbor's little boy dog who is not fixed. He, of course goes nuts when he sees her, smelling her backside and so on. Whenever we go for a walk, she trots over to his house and sits by his yard, even if he is not in there. If he's not in the yard, she goes and sits by his back door. This is VERY frustrating, as she refuses to listen to commands when she's there, but she does when she isn't over there. This has been going on about a week, and driving everyone so crazy that we have resulted to letting her go bathroom in our yard instead of going for walks!! We've tried getting in touch with the SPCA, but always get a recording. We've called our vet who just simply told us that she enjoys the other dog's company. PLEASE HELP!

I'm not exactly sure what they take out when they spay, so you'll have to excuse the wording in this reply...

Sometimes vets don't take out everything they are supposed to take out when they spay. You may want to take Sheba in to see if the vet the SPCA used got it all. I have seen more than one case of this, not only in dogs but also in cats, where I work.
