Lola was spayed on monday and she was bacvk to her old self at 11:30 that same night. I woke up a few times because after sleeping from the time she got home until then she wasn't very tired and was wandering around my room. You would never know she had major surgery the day before yesterday. I've had to keep her on a leash when we're outside my bedroom because she has jumped on the couch and she has tried to chase our cats around the house. She's not allowed to run, jump or have free play, which limits her to bouncing around my bed, digging at my mattresses (I disesembled(sp?) my bed so now I just have one mattress on the floor so she can still sleep with me) and chewing on whatever she can. Needless to say I am dreading the next week and a half. I'm already having trouble trying to keep her calm and settled and it's only the second day. Along with that she has diarrhea from her pain medication ad she threw up four times this morning. I already called the vet and since tomorrow's Lola's last day of medication they're not too worried about it (unless I find blood or Lola starts acting wierd). Her throwing up was most likely due to the fact that she swallowed a large chunk of a greenie whole. I don't know how I'm going to keep her occupied for the next nine days without her going bonkers and ripping her stitches. Normally she's very active in the house and she gets to play outside a few times a day, weather permitting, so being cooped up in my bedroom is not all that fun right now. Is there anything else I can do to entertain her that won't end up ripping her open? I'm really paranoid about her getting hurt right now and don't want to have to make an emergency trip to the vets. Does anyone know when you start to see changes after a dog's been spayed, in thier personality or behaviours? I've already noticed that she barks a lot more, and at wierd things. This morning I took her outside for a potty break and she wouldn't stop barking at the car next door because the hood was open. It was funny but at the same time a little frustarting because I had to take her back inside. If anyone has any ideas I'd really appreciate it!!

Hi Krysta~
That is too funny that you disesembled your bed so that Lola could still sleep with you :D
The barking at weird things could be from the stress of the operation or from the pain meds, not necessarily from the spay itself(if that make sense?).
Here is a link to some games/tricks keep Lola occupied that aren't too physical http://users.tkk.fi/~mtt/belg_tricks.html

WOW!!!! I have bookmarked this site for when I want something to do with Aussie. Some days we don't feel like going to the park but she still needs exercise/attention. I am totally teacher her to 'nod'

Thanks Melissa!! I just looked over all the games and I'm sure I'll be able to keep Lola occupied for the next year!! :D Today is her last day of pain medication so hopefully that is the cause of her barking and she'll stop soon, it's driving me crazy!! I was planning on taking my bed frame off anyway (Lola goes under the bed (a pretty tight fit) and starts tearing around my room, and she has whacked her head on the bars underneath a few times) so I figured I might as well. Then I can watch her too, in case she starts licking her stitches.

well, I feel like my dogs have a lot more learning to do based on that list. my dogs are definately not up to that level of trick, but I am going to start working on it.
Thanks for the info!
