Is that the same as a Kelpie? I have never known anyone with a Kelpie or Heeler but I know 2 people with Australian Shepherds and I can tell you right now, they are high energy! Most cattle dogs will need a lot of exercise if you want them to be calm in the house because if they don't get that exercise you will have a handful in the house. With that said, they are smart dogs and can be trained nicely, like most dogs:)

I don't know that I've ever heard of a Kelpie, but his breed are sometimes called Heelers, he's a Blue Heeler. (ACD)
We knew when we got him that he'd be high energy, and he is. Our 11 year old husky mix was a lot like this when she was a pup. We are a pretty active family, we camp and hike and take our dogs with us most of the time, anywhere really. I've found that if when we first get up in the morning I take about a half hour or longer just playing with him, especially his ball, running off some energy, the rest of the day is great, but if for some reason I don't get that done, he's into everything....so, it's a priority that Zip gets his play time in first thing. :) Then later in the afternoon we go outside and play more. He loves to play!
We have admired these dogs because they are so smart and can be trained for so much. We've only had him a little over a month and he is totally devoted to us already. They are sometimes called "velcro" dogs and he is.
He's already and amazing little thing and I was just wanted to know if anyone else has had one and their experience raising cattle dogs.
