Hi, as most of you already know I have a new baby in the family, a 4 month old male shih tzu, he is brindle and white. We thought of naming him Teddy Bear but I'm really not feeling that name. Can you guys give me some names to consider? Maybe something to match his sister, Chloe Sasha.
Thank you, I'll be waiting patiently!

Jesse,
I love the name your husband picked: "Teddy Bear, " I think if it fits him , why not keep it!
An other name I think goes well with Clhoe is : Cocco.
Good luck,

I like to pick something along the lines of what I like. For instance, I like mudslides....hence Bailey! We were thinking of naming him after a character from the simpsons...I like the simpsons. That way, when someone says "#@#@, that an interesting name. Why did you give him that name?", you can answer them with an interesting reply.

I'm with Eric. I like to pick names with some meaning and not just chose a name because I like that particular name. I chose Bogart because it's slang for "to bully" and I thought it was fitting for a bulldog. ;) If your new puppy reminds you of a teddy bear and your family likes it, then I think you should go with it. :)

How bout Calvin? I think thats just a cute name and goes well with Chloe.... or Coby....Maybe Cosmo...Im going with the C's i dont know lol
What about something that rhymes with Chloe liiiiike.........Joe y?lol im im stretching:rolleyes:
Honestly pick a name you really like. When my brother gave me mutzzy i was so excited and caught up in the moment I let him pick her name...Mutzzy(mozzar ella) bc she looked like a little white mozzarella. WEll it was cute for the moment but i really am not crazy about it...so i know what you feel. I would have named her Chloe actually LOL or bella...anything besides mutzzy. Nobody gets it right. Its always Mut-sy like a mut....or they think its one of those ritzy snitzy names like Muffy. Be comfortable with what you pick. I dont mind much anymore because she likes it lol and when i get another shih tzu i will name it basil or some other accompaniment. My greek friend named her dog feta so maybe we are starting a whole new generation of cheesy dogs! lol Perhaps Guda isnt such a bad name;)

Maybe you could try naming him after a famous teddy bear, like Paddington, Fozzie, Yogi or Winnie-the-Pooh. You could always tag bear on the end so it would be like naming him teddy bear. I'm not very good at coming up with names, it took me forever to come up with Lola so...I don't know. You'll know when you find the right name, it'll come to you.

Oreo would be an appropriate name, but I don't know if I really like it. You can do a google search like Justine said and come up with a list of suggestions for dog names, but then you might also end up naming your dog with names that every other dog has.
Then there is Orca. They are black and white whales, but I don't like that name either, even though it would be a cute contradiction to her size. It isn't pretty enough for her since she is so cute.
I named my dog Capri since she is a tiny beautiful Chihuahua after the Island of Capri off Italy which is a tiny beautiful island.
Maybe you have to get away from the black and white theme names and it would be easier. I was trying to give that a shot, but it's hard to name a dog after it's colors sometimes.

I called the info number for Science Diet and Eukanuba one day and while I was waiting for a consumer person, it was one of those companies that named all of the popular names for dogs. I don't remember the names on the list, but they may be ones to avoid or that you may like.
It's the same thing with kids. Each year there you always here about which female and male names are popular.

I'm with Eric. Aussie's name come from where my partner and I realized we were meant to be together... Australia. :D [much longer story, but you get the short version]. My previous dogs names were "samsonite and delilha", sort of a joke, and their shortened names were "sammy and leia."But I would find a name that has meaning to you, and again, something that always has a nice story to it.

Hello!
I agree with what people have said so far, choosing a name that means something to you is really important. I REALLY wasn't happy about the name my mum chose for our pup cos it sounds so weird in English - 'Gum Gum' (is kinda like 'Goldie' in Cantonese). I looked around for ages to find something with a similar sound or meaning in English but nothing jumped out at me. But the name has stuck and now it's just her, although my friends still laugh at me when I talk about her cos she has a strange name!
Is he reminds you of a teddy bear, then why don't you follow Krysta's advice and name him after a famous bear character, or maybe one of your own teddy bears? I did it the other way around - when I was little, I named my teddy bear after my neighbour's dog cos I loved him so much!
Congratulations on the new addition to your family, let us know what name you decide on and post pics!

I like to think up names that have meaning for me. On our second date, my husband and I went to eat at a place called Finnegan's. Also, being of Irish descent, I do like the Irish names. I also wanted something different, that isn't heard all the time. People at our dog club have some unusual names.
Journey
Spirit
Phantom
Sabre
Caleb
Miranda
Jersey
When I get my birthday puppy in May, I want to call her Fiona, to go with Finnegan, unless I come up with something else.

I like to hvae names that are different from most other dog names (ie, I like to avoid the names on the popular lists). If I'm at a dog park, and I call for Max (the most popular name last year), I'll have 5 or 6 dogs running at me. That's not the case if I call Tien (pronounce Tea 'en) or Bozie (our rescue came with this name, and we didn't change it for various reasons).

I like the bear names, too. I especially like Yogi Bear, but with an adorable little Shih tzu, I can see where Pooh Bear might be more appropriate. And Paddington (Paddy) and Fozzie were mentioned earlier, too. (Also, Corduroy, but he was brown).
There's the Kodiac bear that would kind of go with the beginning sound in Chloe's name, too.
