SORRY ITS LONG!!!!!!!!
We got a brother for Chloe Sasha yesterday!!!!!!!!!! I am so psyched!!!!!!! I'm not sure if you guys remember but i had posted a few months back that I wanted to get Chloe Sasha a pal but then my husband changed his mind and got cold feet about another furbaby. You guys told me to let him be and not to push. So i stopped insisting and yesterday HE made the decision to get him. It was very spur of the moment, just like Chloe Sasha, but we are already inlove wit him. He is a beautiful brindle & white 4 month old shih tzu, he's a little overweight so he waddles (very cute), my husband named him Teddy Bear because he looks and feels like one. I also noticed that his paws are double the size of Chloe's and he's about the same size but he's shorter than her with short legs. Chloe is taller and lean (like a lady). I think he's going to be much bigger than her though. Today is Chloe's 1st birthday, so we consider her brother a birthday present. I will post pics soon.
Ok so now i need MAJOR advice on 2 dogs. Last night when we came home with him Chloe Sasha was VERY excited. She was all over him, playing and playing. He was playful back but he seemed to get tired quicker than she did. So we gave them a break for a few and then let them at it again and for about 3/4 hours they played but kind of rough. Is that normal? Chloe is like a lunatic on him just playing and playing and he does it right back. Currently Chloe is gated in the kitchen, she is no longer in a crate but I took her crate and put Teddy Bear in there next to her bed. I am keeping him crated while I am not home because I need to housetrain him. Is is ok to leave them both in the kitchen but one is crated? Also he did very well last night, he pooped 3x outside and 1 pee. Only 1 pee accident on the rug so far and this morning his crate was nice and clean. He did his business before we went to work and now we are crossing our fingers when we get home. So feed me advice on how to make them play nice. Also will Chloe stop being all over him after a few days?

Hi Jesse,
It's really normal for Clhoe to be excited, playing rough...my Lina and Giotto still play a bit rough... I wouldn't be too concern about it, except that Teddy Bear may not be too comfortable yet in his new home. it's all new to him, Clhoe, and you. As for crating him in Clhoe's crate in the kitchen, I think is a great idea...less stress for Teddy while you are at work, since he can see his sister and Clhoe can see her new brother. Have you taken him to the Vet's yet for a check up? What's the history on him? Was he kept in a crate before?
I'm so happy for you Jesse, I know how much you wanted another shih tzu!
You'll do just fine...Clhoe will settle down, I promise! Teddy on the other hand, may be the one pouncing on Clhoe...It's so cute to watch them at play!
If they get too rough, I would distract them with toys or attention from you.

I am so happy for you. I have posted about the two puppies we have at our house to see if we want to keep them. It will be a chore to house train them and keep our house together in 1 piece from desructo mouth sitting on my lap. Once again I am very happy for you. I always liked having two dogs instead of one. ( in my case better 3 than one)

Jesse-
Congrats on the new addition, I can't wait to see pictures (i remember your story from doggiedoor, my husband had similar views, but here I am with 3 furbabies)! I agree with Maria, Teddy Bear is probably very overwhelmed with all the new sights, sounds and smells and will probably seem very docile for the first few days (I know that has been my experience with all 3 of my dogs, who are all rescues. Each time i introduced a new one, I thought to myself, wow this dog is so mellow and calm, HA, yeah right). Since Teddy Bear is somewhat younger the Chloe, he probably will end up being the more playful one as time goes and he adjusts to the household. My advice is to just be sure to give each dog enough separate "love" time so you can try to circumvent any jealousy that might arise between them (things I’ve learned from owning multiple dogs). Have fun, I'm sure Chloe and Teddy will be best of friends by the end of the week!

Thanks for the advice Maria. YES i truly wanted another one, they are so wonderful they are kind of addictive. I couldn't even sleep last night with the excitement of having another furbaby. I do sacrifice my sleep even more now, I have to be up at 5am to get them out to potty and start breakfast, so that my husband takes them out before he leave around 7am. I also think Chloe will relax after a few days so it will be fine. The great thing is that I'll be off starting Fri and all next week and then my husband will be off the next week, so Teddy Bear will very good house training sessions throughout. I am calling the vet now to set up an appt. He came from the same place I got Chloe Sasha, its a shop that's strictly for dogs (i know i shouldn't have but i couldn't help it). They all come from very good breeders (Chloe is perfect) and they are socialized and crate trained. He has already been neutered and has all his shots except the Rabies which I will have to do after he's 6 months old. I can't wait to get home and play with my babies. My daughter is thrilled.

Hi ladies, Thank you for all the advice. Teddy was very cute waddling around the house and checking each corner and he LOVED all of Chloe's toys. He was having a ball with them. I told the family that we must continue to show Chloe the same amount of love and attention as before to avoid the jealousy. I'm sure by the end of the week the two furbabies will be best friends.

Jesse,
So happy to hear that Teddy has been socialized and crated. It sounds to me Teddy Bear was meant to be part of the Cruz family!! Muy bonito, hermoso tu perrito! Maria,
Thanks for the wonderful thoughts! As you may already know Teddy is no longer Teddy but now is Bailey. LOLOL
He is doing amazing!!! he sleeps right through the night without a peep and not one accident yet in his crate or in the house. He pee on the carpet the first day 1x and that was it. He holds it until we come home from work and through the night. He is doing much much better than i even hoped for. I was quite worried about starting over but he's been perfect so far. Though i know that mistakes will be made because he is a pup but he really is doing amazing. His personality is very different from Chloe. He literally has taken out every single toy out of the bin and play with all 30 or so of them. Chloe has preferences. I love this!
by the way i understand spanish, i'm from puerto rico!
hasta luego amiga!

I am one of the people who told you to wait and let your husband decide...I am glad that worked out. Congrats on your new baby.

Jesse,
It was a super idea to get Bailey at 4 months, instead of a younger puppy.
I tried ( for over a year ) to adopt an older shih tzu thru a couple of rescue places, but for some reason, it didn't work out. I guess Lina and Giotto were meant to be. It was hard for me in the beginning, since I never had dogs before, but we bonded very quickly. I wouldn't have it any other way! They are so precious to me.... Today I left the house for a couple of hours... a half hour later, I ended up calling them on the phone, leaving a message for them to hear.... it gives them comfort to hear my voice over the phone, or is it the other way around!?
Anyway, what I'm trying to say is that Bailey deserves a loving home, YOURS!!
P.S. You remind me of my sister-in-law, she is also from PR and a sweetie!!

Hey Chloe, congrats on your new furbaby!!!! well, I think you just have to give them time to adjust to each other, in the meantime you will need to supervise everytime they play and interact, remember that Chloe is a big girl and don't realize that Bailey is a small baby, although she seems fine with it... anyway, it was so great that your hubby decided!! I'm still waiting for mine to decide, I got my eye on a rescue rottie/boxer mix, but its difficult to have two small dogs, I know it will be twice as difficult to do it with a larger animal, but I'm still crossing my fingers :-)
Ok, good luck with your babies and enjoy your pup as much as you can!!!
