Hey there everyone,
I hope everyone is enjoying the new forum software. If you're from DD, it should seem familiar. I know there are still some things I'm learning how to do, so if you run into a problem, please post it here and I will try to respond as soon as I can. Users may also respond to others' posts if you know the answer!
If you have suggestions for the forum or Doggie Bag site as a whole, please post them here!
Thanks!
Colleen

Hi Colleen,
So far so good...I was able to finally log on to this new site GOOD JOB Colleen! Not sure why some of the posts I posted yesterday did not transferred over to this new forum...Also, I find that some members are using fictitous username, I thought we had to use first and last name to have consistency, just as it was in DD. I remember reading a post by you when the first forum was posted about registering using first and last name only.
Thanks again, for giving us the old members of DD, new, and future members a place we can come to express our interests on how to better care for our furbabies.
Big (( HUG ))!

Oh my goodness, that picture is big! I might need to make the limits a little smaller on those. :)
Thanks for the feedback. Yes, I had requested that everyone use their first and last names as their usernames, but I cannot enforce it through the registation process. I am trying to send private messages to users with 'code' names so we can change them, but that's a lot of work! I hope to figure out something soon!

I agree that usernames should be first/last. I know I contacted you before about this but I think the trend is only getting worse. DoggieDoor had a very clean look because of the required (actual) names. It starts to look very informal when people use screenames with 4-5 numbers after a ficticious name. I never liked forums with goofy names and think a higher standard is upheld when actual names are used. People can use an alias if they do not wish to use their real name, so long as it looks like an actual name - not just a goofy screename like razz2754!

I agree, Eric. I wish I knew how to make it mandatory.

Good idea, about first and last names. I wasn't thinking when I first registered, so only used my first name. So if you'll tell me how to change it, I'll get my last name added on. Site looks great Colleen. Hope the donations are coming in too.

Are you able to change the wording of the registration screen. It currently says "Enter your desired user name". If you could just change that to "Enter your full name in the format of First Name Last Name". I know it wouldn't be required, but at least it would lessen the amount of people that do use screwy names.
I assume that you have tried everything though, and it just may be in the software program. If this is the case, I understand that you cannot change it.
Besides that, the site looks wonderful and everyone is so greatful that you have done this.

At doggie door when i registered I overlooked the first last name and before i could actually register brandy oliver emailed me asking me if it was indeed my first/last name... I gave her my full name and was then cleared to register. That seems like a lot of work though. Dont worry colleen you are doing great. I cant even tell you how wonderful you are for taking this on all on your own. Please let me know if you need any help or moderators or anything you can think of

Hi, I agree with Eric 100% it is much nicer to be able to talk to people with real names not codes.

GOOD NEWS!! I figured out how to ask for firstnames and lastnames and I will also be requiring approval of usernames to make sure we get them in the right way!

Thanks guys. Your reassurance is greatly appreciated. Brandi had such an amazing thing going at DD and I know Doggie Bag could never compare to her services, but I did want to just provide a place to keep chatting cause I learned so much there! Anyway, thanks.

Great job Colleen! It will make it more friendly around here if we can refer to people by their first names. If you need suggestions on things, never be afraid to ask our opinions. By the way, I love that we can now post profile pics. Because of this, I actually learn the dog's name before I remember the owners name. It's that name-face association.

Hi Colleen
Luciann Smith had a good suggestion, I don't know if she'll post here or not so I thought I'd do it. She would like a list of recommended reading for dog issues. I don't know how you feel about that, but it would have been very beneficial to me to know what to read for a specific issue.

I'm working on this issue right now, actually! It will probably be a little bit till I can get it up and running, but it should be a nice interface!
