An article in a dog magazine is causing heated debates here in Germany.
The author of this article advocates seperate training classes for male and female dogs during the time of adolescence.
She claims the presence of the other sex would only cause huge distractions and cause sexual and competitive behaviour which the owners do not want to be displayed. Thus forbidding these behaviours during class would only lead to even more frustration and stress causing even more troubles in the long run.
She prefers same sex classes on every day terrain (in parks, on group walks etc.) to only confront the dogs with limitid distractions out of the environment.
What do you think about this approach?
Could same sex classes really be useful or not?
And why do you think so?
