Help...I have a 7 1/2 month old Beagle, Ace, and as I was sitting at my computer he got on my bed(normal) looked at me and peeed! I don't know why. He hadn't given me any indication that he had to go out. ON MY BED. I don't understand. Nothing different going on in the household. He has been acting a bit different lately. He no longer follows me to every room or doesn't always sleep by me anymore. He seems to be able to find comfortable places to be without me. I thought this was a good thing. Any ideas about what is going on???

Hi Jody,
From what I read ( I'm no expert ) is that around seven months on, some puppies go thru a defiant stage, kind of like a toddler, trying to test us parents... see what they can get away with. :o
My puppies are 6 months old, my turn is coming.
Stay on top of your baby and continue to show your leadership ( easier said than done, I know )

That's right, your puppy may be entering the "terrible teens", around that age they start getting a littke defiant, my beagle at that age went through a "destructive phase", she also peed in my bed a couple of times... and sometimes she looked as she wanted nothing to do with me... anyway, just be patient and if this continues you have to repotty train him... dogs are weird... once you think you have everything under control they come and snap you out of the dream... But don't worry, with the +R training you can handle this phase pretty ok... mine is 11 months old right now and just went into another "destructive phase"... so figure that out, so far we have had around 3 of those...
Good luck!!!!

My Beagle, Ace, peeed again the same night on my bedroom floor...I am trying to be patient. Hopefully it all ends soon. When will he stop eating everything. Papers, cardboard, clothes, etc...I don't know how to make him stop.

Hi Jody~
When this type of thing happens it's best to go back & do a refresher course in your pup's potty training. You'll need to keep an eye on him like you did when he was not potty trained at all. Also go outside with him when he has to go potty & praise & treat him when goes. If he's urinating more than normal, check with your vet, he might have an UTI.
Chewing at his age is so normal. Try to keep everything out of his reach that you don't want him to chew on. If he's chewing on something he isn't supposed to be, redirect him to an appropriate chew toy. Remember to praise & treat him for good behavior.
