Just checking to see how you are. I'm not sure exactly where Huntsville is but I hope you and your family survived Rita. I know you said you were evacuating, but I hope you weren't in that horrible mess of a traffic jam I saw on TV. I wondered about you when I saw that. Hopefully, you'll be able to check in here & let us know how you faired soon.

Stefie,

Just to let you know that I didn't have to evac, though i did have a plan in case i did. the babies and i are fine, i have no power but only part of huntsville is without power at the moment so i am at a friend's house who has power.

Huntsville is located 120 miles N of Galveston Texas straight up I-45. We have gotten a lot of wind and i have gotten about 4 inches of rain. The eye of Rita hit farther East of us than we originally expected. I lost power last ight around 830 last night and am watching the wind and rain out the back windows of my friend's house. I will down load the pics off my camera of my yard that has pecan tree branches every where due to the winds. they are letting some people back into houston today at least.

But to let everyone know we are fine and Frodo and Tika are doing fine as well.

Great news! I'm glad your okay and have someplace to go until your power is restored. Hopefully that will be soon. Give your furbabies an extra ear rub from me. I'm so glad you guys didn't get hit like Loiusiana & Mississippi did with Katrina!

we were prepared for just that happening, but i am glad it did not happen. they are having to wait for the winds to die down some before working on the power lines. and thanks for your concern and thoughts. this is my other family.....and the babies are having a great time at my friend's house they are just running around and loving all the attention that they are getting..lol

I took some pictures around Huntsville of all the bad traffic at the gas stations and different stuff, if anyone wants to see them you can go to:

Glad to know you're okay, Luciann! I'm also glad to know you didn't have to evac...it's a pain in the butt! I hope you get power soon...it stinks not having electricity.

I looked at those pictures, and from the little I saw on the news (I don't watch the news because it's all BAD news, so I just live in my little corner of the world), I don't know what I'd do if I lived where there were such tragedies. I have to tell you, there is lots of room up here in Northern Canada if any of you need somewhere to move! Everyone who has been affected by the awful weather down South is in my prayers.

Rita was not near as bad as Katrina. I don't tend to watch the news either for the same reason, but I don't think i will move to Canada since i hate the cold...lol but thank you for offering.

I have a lot of downed branches and finally got the rain we needed and it was not too bad where i was so I have to say it could have been a lot worse that is for sure.
