I thought it would be cool if we had like a "daily update" where everyone can just say how they're doing and all.

Gaddy,

I am game. It is hot in the South but Frodo, Tika and I are enjoying our summer. both are sound asleep in the nice cool livingroom and Frodo and I had just gotten up from one, actually he is laying on the back of the couch watching the world outside and tik is a sleep.

I am very well! I just got the call that the home we wanted to rent is ours! Yay...a home. The dogs and my daughter will be so happy and no more sharing a backyard and hearing the other people in our duplex. There will be a HUGE room for our dogs to sleep and play in during the day so no more crates...unless they want to. This will make my summer...flowers. YAY

I just had my first cookout of the summer for Father's Day. I was a little nervous since this would be the first time people and food would be around with my rescue, Missy. I've had Missy 5 months and she is 1 1/2 yrs old and I've had Dooley, who just turned 7 since he was 12 weeks old. Everything was great; both dogs got along with everyone which I knew they would. I was just very pleased there were no issues with any food!! Missy even shared her pool with my 2 1/2 yr old niece and everything turned out great.

Way to go missy, it is great that she would share her pool. Glad the cookout was a success. we just took a short walk, it is still so hot that we have to be careful that the babies don't get over heated.

It is HOTT, down here in GA, we just got back from White Water, and let the dogs have their own white water with the ice and water from the cooler.

It wasnt very humid today, so I took the dogs for a nice walk before we left. I think its going to stay nice so Im going to drag out the kiddy pool tomorrow and fill it up.

We are ok, its a great weather down here and Nala and Molly are just happy. Nala is starting her therapy dog training this Saturday, while Molly still loves to lay down in the couch and just relax. Yesterday we went to the doggie park, a great event for both dogs and they had a great time, we saw a bulldog swimming in a nearby pool!!!! That was quite a show, everybody was just amazed to see the little chubby fellow do his laps in the small pool!!!
Overall, we've been having a great time!!!

We had a successfull weekend, with racing, my daughter got into the semi finals. Didn't win, but brought home a nice trophy. My son went out in the third round of racing, which is good for him since this is his first season.
And Mickey made me the most proud. He hasn't had alot of exposure to other dogs. We live in a rural area so there are no dog parks and no neighbours with dogs, etc. He has been to a kennel but they're seperated there.
Anyway, with the permission of another racing family that had their dog with them, we put our dogs together. Chevy, a 3 year old German Shepard was so great with Mickey and Mickey was great with her. He even took his favourite ball over to her for them to play with. It was sooooo cute.
I was anxious I guess, because I've never had a dog who was a socialable as Mickey. But neither dog showed any aggression towards eachother at all. It gives me some peace of mind and some confidence, that I can bring Mickey into that kind situation. I think I'll still be cautious though.
We also introduced another dog into the fold, Bam Bam, a 12 year Shar pei. He wasn't as much fun cause he wouldn't play,he would just sniff which didn't impress Mickey much.
But I was just sooooo happy that Mickey was a good boy and now he has a doggie buddy to play with at the track.

Well Frodo and Tika watched me hang the new screen door on the house yesterday. They have had a quite weekend and we went on some short walks (due to the heat). Though it is still hot it is breezy so it helps for my babies....

i got some nice pics of tika yesterday at least

I've finally graduated from walker to cane, and since the wheelchair was returned to the medical equipment rental company, can't use it to take the dogs out for a walk anymore!

Poor Maddy and Bo - Sooooo bored after 4 months of nothing (since I broke my leg) after being accustomed to accompanying me almost everywhere I go - to the beach, down to Starbuck's for coffee/paper/people watching, walks along The Pier, and hanging out with friends at the many outside cafes/bar & grilles here. I'm bored too!

I ventured out yesterday with both of them, Maddy on my right wearing her harness with support handle to serve in place of the cane, and Bo on my left. Oh my. What an ordeal! Maddy is used to being on my left, but did quite well with a little on-the-job-training. Bo, on the other hand, was twirling around doing a Poodle ballet . . .had to go back and take Bo home! After a short walk with Maddy, it was Bo's turn, and I was going to use the cane, but thought I'd try the harness on him, so I could leave the cane home, and he would be my support. Sure did surpise me! He was an angel! Very in tune with my every move, and though he hasn't been trained to do brace work, or move for balance, he took to it like a duck to water! I'm so proud of him!

Love my spookids!

Congratulations Lesly!! You must be so proud of them!!

Well, I'm getting ready to leave on friday- I'm going to the New jersey for 10 days. I wish I could bring Lola with me but it's not possible. So she's going to stay at home with my mom and the rest of the family, which now includes both my younger sisters. I'm really worried about leaving Lola because no one else thinks the way I do about training and "discipline". Now that my sister is back I'm even more nervous because she wasn't all that nice to his dog and I don't know how she's going to treat Lola when I'm not here. She's told me I need to discipline Lola more and she hit her when they were playing and Lola nipped her (I immediately confronted her and told her not to hit Lola). I told her to say "NO!" and ignore her, but I'm not sure how much of that got through  I'm going to ask my mom and youngest sister to watch her- just to make sure nothing happens. My mom is thinking of getting my step-dad a puppy for their anniversary so this is going to be like a trial for them, they'll get to see what puppy-raising is really like (even though Lola's 8 months old) My mom gets to take her to two advanced obedience classes as well so that will be good for both of them. I'm going to miss Lola so much!!

I have had 2 foot/ankle surgeries since I've had Dooley. It's inspiring that they know that you're hurting and you have that incentive to get going to take care of them. When my Dooley was very young, I had wrist surgery and I just remember him laying next to me after I came home, wanting to take care of me while I was sleeping off the anesthesia. Your dogs know you're recuperating and they will make an effort to take care of you.

Susie, aren't our doggie's great :)

It's still morning here and I had a horrid nightmare and it's raining so the day doesn't look like it's going to be any better. Oh well

;) It must be the holiday...no posts for a few days. We had a busy day here with the #1 grandson's birthday party. He turned 6 and had about a dozen or so 6 year olds at the event. They were all good kiddos, but very rambuctious. We had a good time watching the events unfold! Ah, the rewards of being a grandparent!

The neighbors adopted a 3 year old mixed breed female from the no kill shelter here. We introduced our dogs and after some barking from our GSD and some dog kisses from our retired adopted greyhound racer, everyone seemed to get along well. Our GSD LOVES to play and so that was her objective with the new neighbor dog. Unfortunately, as a racing greyhound, our PJay doesn't understand how to play and we have not been too successful in helping him along those lines. He doesn't seem to mind that the others are frolicking and he is just an observer.

The weather here is beautiful after a week of hot and sticky temps. Just in time for the holiday! Dogs sure have taken advantage of the cooler temps and stayed outside for awhile longer.

I'm not sure how frequent I'll post here...time is an element that there is precious little of... I started a journal with the intent of writing in it daily. I'm lucky to get an entry once a month! Hope I can do better here.

Well we moved to our new home! We are so happy, but the boys are adjusting slowly. I really should have put more consideration into them when packing. I did make sure to keep their toys and blankets together and set up their room as soon as we pulled in so they had their belongings. It has been stressful on them, but no accidents and they have been behaving better now than in the old place. We used to keep them in our room with the door shut but now that we moved they sleep in our room yet but also in the living room w/ no problems! I am surprised they have been very trustworthy. I won't be pushing my luck though. Still doggy proofing and what not. Anyway thought I would share the experience. Now that the unpacking is done they are getting more playtime and coming around.

I'm back!! And Lola is fine (although she gained 3 pounds while I was gone  ) I had so much fun at the beach!! My mom has decided she definitely does not want a puppy right now so Lola is out of luck for a buddy until next year :( She did a lot of sleeping while I was away and she even went for her first swim!! She didn't like it too much but I had her out there yesterday and I'm pretty sure once she gets used to it she'll like it. She was very excited when my mom brought her to pick me up (and she got to play with the three little girls that were on the trip with me.) She was very good with them, I was surprised. She only tried to jump on them twice and then she gave them all kisses. It was a good thing I wasn't able to bring Lola with my because I don't think I would have come home!!

Glad you had fun Krysta!

Fischer started another puppy class last night. He was too young to go on to pre-beginners, so we took another puppy class. He's the biggest puppy this time. He's 4 months old. The rest are all younger. We have a golden retriever, Rip. A black lab, Wrigley. And a black standard poodle, Elvis. There's suppose to be a Mastiff puppy, too, but it is in the hospital. Very sick, poor baby.
Fischer ran and played and trained, and had a great time. We had to watch him so he didn't jump on the others too much.
Wore me out, too! :o: LOL
