Hello all, it has been some time since my last post .. We've had Shazam long enough now to be used to his behaviors and have made progress in many areas. One issue that remains is the crying during a car ride. He ALWAYS cries in the car, the WHOLE time. This makes taking any extended car rides pretty much impossable. The last trip, he actually threw up! He is a pretty nervous boy to begin with, but car rides are unbearable for him .. what to do??

Where do you usally take Shazam when you go on a car ride? It could be that he knows he is going somewhere exciting or somewhere where he is not comfortable. If we have more details maybe we can see what the problem is.

my dog doesn't cry but indeed is deathly afraid of car rides. We take him every where so he would not associate the car with only bad things, but then again my silly dog loves to go to the vet. He used to freeze in the car like a frozen pupsicle. You would put him in (we had a chevy blazer) and even in our truck on the seat next to you he would lay perfectly still. It wasn't until we bought a new chevy trailblazer that we realized the other cars were to bumpy to him. I know it sounds wierd but my husband even commented on the the cars ride and now Max stands up and looks out the window even, he walks around. I think the ride is so smooth that he feels comfortable moving about?? Maybe there is something he doesn't like, I don't know what type of car you have but if you crate him will his crate fit in to make him feel more secure. My sisters lab had problems messing in the car she was so nervous and then they bought one of those harnesses that you secure to the seatbelt and she is fine now. It maybe alittle while to figure out what is bothering him about the ride but once you do it will work out hopefully.

my two love to go for rides so i cannot offer any advice really. i have had dogs that would not ride in cars, but usually if they could put their head out the window for some reason they felt better.
