Dog Licks Face

Just wanted to get some input on this. We have a 12 month old Ibizan hound...yeah, he's that old now...scary...Anyway , we let him into our bed in the morning between 5-6am. He nudges me awake and we let him in. As soon as we let him up, he goes to both me and my boyfriend and licks us. Usually our faces, but if one of us is facing away, he'll settle for an arm. And he'll do it for like 5-10 seconds each and the curl up between us and fall asleep. Any thoughts on why he does this? he's not a particularly lick-y dog the rest of the time...an occassional lick on the nose if he's happy to see me...

Those would be called goodmorning kisses. I get them from Maggie in the morning when I come from work and pretty much whenever I ask her for one!

I get those ones too... when Nala and Molly wake up early in the morning they jump to bed and wake us with some really wet kisses. Of course, hubby is not to happy about it, but its my alarm clock!!!!! I don't know why dogs are like that, but some times Nala will lick my feet, arms, legs or whatever she can, just like if she was licking a popsicle!!!
weird, but I just take it as loving kisses :-P

Tanna likes to lick my legs when I get out of the shower. She'll wait outside the shower door and as soon as you get out and start towelling yourself, she'l start licking!! I think she thinks she is grooming me. She also, weirdly, likes to lick lotion off my legs and my perfume off my wrists. Bizarre!

If Lola sleeps in her crate I get kisses when I let her out. She'll lick my arms and face and then curl up beside me and go to sleep. She likes lotion too!! Even if it doesn't smell good to me she tries to lick it off :rolleyes:

Well my two sleep with me on the bed and Frodo more than tika wakes me up with kisses, face, arms etc...when i get out of the shower they lick my legs and if i have been sweating hey want to lick me as well.

they also likes too lick lotion off me as well...

On the weekends when Daddy gets to sleep in, after they come back from outside and breakfast, the girls lay on the bed and watch him intently waiting for some sign of movement. They know that "Daddy is asleep" means not to bother him. When he starts to stir, or I decide that it is time for him to get up, I say, "OK, go wake Daddy". Well, the two of them race over, climb up on top of him, and cover his face and head with wet doggy kisses until he can't take it any more. They live for these moments.... :-D

lol you are so cruel....but i know how that is. my two wait for the alarm to go off before they start in on me....

but it is not just my face they go for the seem to like my teeth...that will wake you up quick
